Ohio Machined Products - Case Study 2
Shape Corporation http://www.shapecorp.com is a leader in the automotive and industrial component industries. It is the largest manufacturer of inner bumpers in the world. It provides 80% of domestic automotive inner bumpers and 30% for the Japanese market manufacturers.
Shape submitted a bid to Nissan for an inner bumper part and got the order. After submitting the original bid Nissan changed the original specification that would have required an additional machining process adding considerable cost to the part. Nissan insisted however that Shape honor the original bid.
Shape asked Ohio Machined Products to see if there was anything they could think of to do that would both meet Nissan’s specifications and keep the increase cost of the part near its original price. OMP made some design suggestions that would maintain the complete integrity of the part but also resulted in a 30% savings in the final production costs.
Customers quite often send their proposals to OMP for review and evaluation to make their parts most cost effective.
We at OMP would welcome the opportunity to do the same for your company. |
